The conference is free to ACEPT members and will be followed by the May ACEPT meeting. The meeting will be from 1:30pm-3:30pm and you do not need to attend the conference in order to attend the meeting.

Elections

We currently have two open positions for next year and there is one nominee for each position (listed below). Nominations need to be made no later than the May 10, 2013 meeting next week. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else please let me know. Elections will take place via on-line voting once the nominee list has been finalized. If the current nominees are unopposed, the election will be suspended and the nominees will automatically be installed at the August 2013 meeting. The current nominees are:

President-Elect: Eunice Kim, Director of Training, Doctor of Psychology Program, Adler School of Professional Psychology.

Treasurer/Secretary: Peter Battista, Associate Director of Training, Doctor of Psychology in Clinical Psychology Program

Membership Chair Opening 2013-14

The Membership Chair is an appointed position to the Executive Committee. It begins in August 2013 and goes through August 2014. The Membership Chair is responsible for maintaining and updating ACEPT membership organizations and creating relationships within the Chicagoland training community in order to increase ACEPT membership. Please contact Tim Mulligan (tim.mulligan@valpo.edu), ACEPT President Elect, if you are interested in the position or would like to nominate someone for the position.

Practicum Guidelines and Notification Survey Results

The ACEPT 2013-14 Application Guidelines and Notification process were evaluated through a survey distributed to ACEPT school, ACEPT and non-ACEPT sites, and students attending ACEPT schools. There were a total of 174 respondents. Six school representatives, 41 site representatives and 127 students completed the survey. Survey results will be discussed at the May 10, 2013 meeting and will be used by the Guidelines Subcommittee in considering the process for the 2014-15 training year.

 Automated Match System Survey

Over the last few years one suggestion for the doctoral practicum notification process has been to move to an automated matching system, similar to the one used for pre-doctoral internship programs. After an initial discussion with a representative of the National Matching Service, we decided to survey ACEPT member organizations (academic programs and training sites) to gauge the level of interest in this method of notification and to survey approximate enrollment numbers to estimate an initial cost.

Below is a  link to a survey (yes, another survey!). It should take about 10 minutes to complete and you’ll need statistics about the recent doctoral practicum application process. For schools, you’ll need the numbers of students enrolled in the search process at each level (Therapy, Diagnostic, and Advanced Therapy) as well as the number of active training sites your students apply to. For training sites you’ll need the number of positions you have at each level and the number of applications you received. You’ll also be asked to indicate whether or not you received applications from ACEPT schools.

We will be asking for training director name and institutional affiliation, although the results will be shared to the ACEPT general body and NMS without identifying information. Although we are asking any doctoral psychology program or doctoral practicum training site to compete the survey, it is our hope to get all ACEPT member organization to complete the survey. The Guidelines Subcommittee will be following up with ACEPT institutional representatives over the summer. The survey link is:

Thank you all so much for your time. If you have any questions with regard to ACEPT or any of the subjects above, please do not hesitate to ask. I hope to see you at the conference and meeting next week.

Sincerely,

Rufus R. Gonzales, PhD
